Plumbing Update

Here's what's been going on:

*We've been to every record keeping building in the county, and only found a few records of our houses plumbing - none of which have been especially helpful.

*The plumber came back today and ran a camera down. There's a dip in the pipes - right under our kitchen floor. Thankfully, it's just full of water and not clogged cause the only way to fix that would be to dig up our kitchen floor.

*There is, however, a clog in the pipes, but it's in the back yard area.

*OK - no problem. Except the clog is 53 feet from the drain. And exactly 53 feet from the drain is exactly where we just built our new shed. Last weekend.

*Good-bye new shed.

*From the camera, they think that some of the plumbing is newer. At least newer to where they could get the camera to.

*They tried to power wash it, but the clog wouldn't budge.

*Since they power washed it, and it didn't budge, and our house didn't float away from all the water backing up - they assume the pipes are broken somewhere along the way. That water's gotta be going somewhere, right?

*Next step - dig it up and replace pipes.

*They are coming back later today or tomorrow to give us "an estimate" which is just another way to say "Yeah - your gonna be throwing a couple grand down the drain. Literally."

**These are the kinds of things that make me have to stop, sit down, eat an entire bowl of pasta salad, a gallon of ice cream, and 2 boxes of cereal before I can function again. Nothing like carbs and sugar to calm your nerves and make you put things into perspective. Everything seems less horrible after you've consumed an entire year's worth of calories in one sitting.**
