Fish Lake.

Tim used to go to Fish Lake every year with his family, but had not been in about 17 years.  For his birthday this year, we decided to spend the weekend there with Tim's brother and his family, and his dad.

We stayed in some pretty "rustic" cabins that were kinda sketchy. Seriously. My sis-in-law heard a mouse trap go off in the middle of the night on the first night, and our cabin had some of the flooring ripped out and had exposed (old) plywood flooring splintering all over.  It made it kind of hard to set the baby down!

We did, however, catch 5 fish, and probably would have caught more if the kids had more patience.  They did have lots of fun with their cousins, though.  Everyone was talking about "next year when we come..." so it must have been a success, and might be a tradition. Fish Lake has super cold water, so unless you wear a wet suit, swimming and wake boarding are out, which was a bummer because we're kind of water folk.

I cannot tell you how many times I turned around and had to pull rocks out of Emmett's mouth.  He loved it, though.  He loves the boat and he loves to be outside, bless his little red-headed heart. (That's right - his little bald head is sprouting some red hair. Heaven help me.)

We were being watched over on our way home, because the boat trailer's wheel bearings went out, and we had to drive the last 20 miles very slowly with our flashers on.  When we got home, Tim and Floyd took the wheel off, it was only being held on by a teeny, tiny piece of metal!  If it had come off on the freeway, going 70 mph, it could have been deadly for us and people behind us.  I am so grateful we made it home safely!
